My Lord,
One of the subjects which, on my arrival in the Colony, has occupied much of my time, and unfortunately little progress, is the present inefficient state of the Post Office arrangements.
Mr. Scales arrived here on the 21st ultimo to take charge of that Office at a salary of £300 a year without any assistance being allowed to him, and, as he states, with the impression, that the duties of this Office would occupy very little of his time, and allow him considerable leisure to pursue his profession as a solicitor.
